Another Twist in Gangster Brothers’ Case: Wives Booked Anew
Additional Case Filed Against Fugitive Wives of Slain Gangster Brothers The wives of the late gangster-politicians Atiq Ahmad and Khalid Azeem (Ashraf), along with four accomplices, have been charged in another case by the Dhumanganj police in Prayagraj. The case, registered late Friday night, pertains to their failure to appear in court despite being declared absconders and warned of property attachment.
These women are wanted in connection with the murders of lawyer Umesh Pal and his two police guards on February 24. They had been declared absconders after the main accused, Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf, were killed while in police custody on April 15. Four other accomplices, including Atiq’s son Asad, also died in separate police encounters.
The fresh FIR has been filed against Shaista Parveen (Atiq’s wife), Zainab aka Ruby (Ashraf’s wife), Ayesha Noori (sister), and aides Guddu Muslim, Sabir, and Arman. The court had ordered action under section 82 of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) on July 26, 2023, due to their non-compliance with court orders. This led to the FIR under section 174 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) for not adhering to a legal order.
It is important to mention that several of the absconding accused carry rewards of ₹5 lakh each for their capture, while Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen has a reward of ₹50,000. This development marks another chapter in the ongoing legal proceedings involving the families of the slain gangsters.
