G20 Summit: IAF’s Impenetrable Airspace Protection Plan
With the imminent arrival of the eagerly awaited G-20 Summit, scheduled to take place in the national capital in a matter of days, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is actively putting in place robust security measures to guarantee the event’s safety and security.
In a bid to safeguard the Delhi airspace and provide a secure environment for high-level gathering, the IAF is poised to deploy a constellation of resources, including airborne warning systems, state-of-the-art fighter jets like the Rafale, and cutting-edge air defense missile systems at strategic locations.
Collaborating with various security agencies, the IAF is orchestrating a comprehensive defense strategy that encompasses counter-drone systems and air defense missiles to counter potential airborne threats. Vigilant surveillance of the northern regions will be carried out through Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS), while indigenous surveillance aircraft ‘Netra’ will provide real-time intelligence.
Air bases surrounding the national capital are on high alert, prepared to respond swiftly to any aerial threats. The IAF has activated a comprehensive surface air defense missile system, including the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) and the Akash air defense missile system, capable of engaging targets at ranges of 70-80 kilometers.
With dignitaries from around the world participating, the G20 Summit requires elite protection. Special Forces will be deployed to safeguard critical locations, mirroring security protocols during national celebrations like Republic Day and Independence Day. Additionally, Delhi is prepared for medical emergencies, with a fleet of strategically positioned ambulances and standby facilities at renowned hospitals.
Delhi is enhancing the summit’s ambiance by adorning designated roads and venues with over 6.75 lakh flowering plants and foliage arrangements, creating a visually appealing environment.
