The journey of Mangalyaan began in 2013, orchestrated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as the nation’s inaugural interplanetary mission. This ambitious endeavor propelled ISRO into the prestigious ranks of space agencies capable of achieving Mars orbit, placing them alongside Roscosmos, NASA, and the European Space Agency. Scientists have noted that Phobos’ orbit is gradually diminishing by 1.8 cm per year, leading to projections that foresee its eventual collision with Mars or its transformation into a planetary ring within the next 100 million years.
